Monkey Bone is a comedy revolving around a cartoonist (Fraser) and the incredible fantasy world that takes place in his mind after he slips into a coma. Trapped in this outrageous land called Down Town, nestled between life and death, he must somehow find the means to return to reality. This is the first feature film to combine stop-motion animation in a live-action format in the same scene.

Preliminary desing by Henry Selick and Twitching Image, Inc.

Dark Town slipped mysteriously under my studio door and into my life as if it was meant to be, explained Henry Selick. I've never felt that any project was closer to my sensibilities than this one. I'm thrilled, added Mad Monkey president and series creator, Kaja Blackley. Henry Selick is the only person I would have ever entrusted Dark Town to. The fact that he came to me is even more flattering.

Ben Stiller was scheduled to play the main character, but instead, Brendan Fraser (Gods and Monsters) took his place. Stiller dropped out of the film to take a co-starring role in Universal's Mystery Men.
